Collection: Raku

The Raku technique is when pottery is taken from the kiln while glowing hot & placed in a bin with combustible materials that will catch fire. The combustibles ignite immediately upon touching the hot pottery & a lid is placed on the bin. The combustion from the fire starves out the oxygen. This creates a myriad of colors within the glaze. The unpredictability is what makes raku very desirable.Â
